The COVID-19 pandemic has hit children with disabilities and their families extraordinarily hard. Our families are not receiving the education, socialization and therapy support they need to thrive. The PlayGarden’s revenue is down over 30% but we are committed to serving our families, through preschool, open play and summer camp. The added safety precautions required are costly. Why is our campaign called Big-Littles you may ask?
Every year for the last fifteen years, the PlayGarden has been able to provide life-changing inclusive programming families of children with and without disabilities in our community. We have watched young children grow up from little four year old preschoolers to eighteen year old camp counselors. We have watched as some of our PlayGardener’s have gone into the workforce as therapists, teachers, program directors and even rocket scientists. We know that EVERY year in a child’s life matters and this year, with COVID-19 is no different.

Over the next two months we will be sharing with you photos and videos of some of our long time PlayGardeners of them as young children and then again as teenagers and young adults. We hope that these photos make you smile, warm your heart and act as a reminder of just how important inclusive programming is for the well-being of our WHOLE community.
