Supported Employment

The PlayGarden offers employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Employment contributes to feelings of self-determination, self-worth and community inclusion. The PlayGarden partners with local organizations that provide job coaches, such as Northwest Center and Provail.

“The PlayGarden has given me a job, which has impacted my life so much. Because, it’s really hard to get a job when you have a disability. Being able to work here, now I can build up my resume up for getting a future job. Going from a camper to a counselor made me really nervous. Like, what if I can’t help this camper or what if something happens? But, all the staff here makes me feel really supported. I don’t feel bad asking for help. They are always willing to help me.”

“I love having a job here at the garden. I have cerebral palsy. Coming into the space I’ve been fortunate to be able to use my background within the disability community and apply it here. I bring my wheelchair and I’m shooting hoops and a lot of the kids are running around and shooting as well. I get to play as someone with a disability with someone standing up. It doesn’t matter. We’re going to figure out a way to make fun happen!”
